Play Fair and Play To Win determine how many innings each player gets to play. When you “Play Fair” each person gets to play about the same number of innings (within a couple). When you Play to Win you put your best people in as much as possible.

Kickball Coach creates custom lineups based on your team’s settings, each player’s skills and rank at positions are all factored into creating the perfect lineup.
Each player’s profile allows you to set the player’s gender and to assign a percentage value to their skill levels for bunting, fielding, kicking, on base percentage and running. This information is used to determine kicking order as well as for who to use for substitutions when assigning positions.
Player positions can be assigned in the player’s profile and under the position in settings. Tapping the position in the field in settings allows you to sort the players in the order you’d like them to play the position with the player at the top of the list being your first choice. This information is used when assigning players to positions in innings. The ranking of players allows for substitutions to be made when a player has reached the maximum number of innings.
Towards the bottom of settings, you can configure a few more things that affect the way a game is created. The number of innings played defaults to 5 as this is a common number in adult co-ed kickball. You can also configure the minimum number of girls and the minimum number of guys required per inning. Lastly, the Play Fair and Play to Win options allow you to decide if you want to give your team equal play time or if you want your best players to play as much as possible.

Yes! Kickball Coach has option to Play Fair or Play to Win. Play Fair ensures that each player gets to play the same number of innings, or as close to it as possible, while also ensuring the right number of girls and guys play per inning. Player stats are still factored into the Play Fair option and of course we still want you to win, but this option ensures everyone gets their money’s worth. Play to Win only ensures that everyone gets at least 1 inning of play time and your best people are put in as much as possible while still maintaining the right number of girls and guys per inning. Only use Play to Win all the time if you’re playing competitively, you’re a jerk and/or you’re trying to moneyball your co-ed kickball team (which is only something a jerk would do unless it’s competitive).

Yes! Kickball Coach tries to assign your players to the most strategic positions possible, but if you want to change an assignment, simply tap on the position in the inning and change the player. When changing players, the list of players shows who is available, and how many innings they’re playing to help you better decide who to pick.

Yes! Kickball Coach makes sure every inning has at least the minimum number of girls and guys you specify in the settings.

Yes! Each position allows you to assign players and sort them in order of who is best at the position.

No. Player stats are arbitrarily determined by you, the coach, yay! Future updates may offer this, but we decided to keep it simple since most co-ed kickball teams don’t have the same people from one season to the next and your stat keeper brought jello shots and is not paying any attention whatsoever. Let us know if this is something you want!

Yes! The app does its best to order the players, but if you don’t like it, you can easily re-order the lineup. To do so tap on your game to bring up the game details, then tap kicking order and Edit, then rearrange to your heart’s content.

Every lineup Kickball Coach makes is custom tailored to the players who are playing and their skills. The general strategy is to put the best 3 bunters first, followed by the best two kickers, after the initial 5 players, a bunt-bunt-bunt-kick strategy is followed. There is also some strategic re-ordering of the lineup and factoring of on-base percentage to spread the team’s skills across the game so as not to have a lopsided kicking lineup.
